Topic: AV equipment usage

Description: The presenters will discuss how to properly use the AV equipment located in each classroom on campus. The presenters will also inform the group how to stay protected from hazards faced in our community.

Topic: Accessibility workshop

Description: The presenters will discuss accessibility beyond creating a syllabus and cover topics related to:

  • Rules/guidelines on accessibility
  • Universal design considerations & why accessibility is important
  • How to make an accessible syllabus
  • Accessibility checks in Word, PPT, Adobe
  • Resources available for faculty

Topic: Student success

Description: The presenters will discuss student success initiatives and the role faculty play in student success.

Topic: Dossier basics

Description: The presenters will talk about basic information related to the dossier such as the different sections of the dossier, where to find information related to RTP, show an example dossier, and field any questions. Mentors will be invited to this session.

Topic: Plagiarism

Description: The presenters will discuss how to identify plagiarism, the tools that can be used, the faculty reporting responsibility, and the resources located on campus. The presenters will also talk about the Writing Center.

Topic: Work/life balance panel

Description: Four current faculty members will share their experiences with the RTP process and discuss their individual struggles and strategies to manage the work/life balance.

Topic: Community discussion

Description: The presenters will discuss the APSU Board of Trustees, and Government, and Community relations. Two academic deans will also discuss service to APSU, the community, and the profession.

Topic: Grants session 1

Description: The presenters will discuss the different tools offered in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.

Topic: Online Pedagogy

Description: The presenter will discuss online pedagogy.

Topic: The new D2L

Description: The presenters will discuss the new D2L offered through Distance Education.

Topic: Dossier mini bootcamp

Description: The presenters will discuss the different areas of the dossier and provide information related to documents to include best practices, and examples of completed dossiers.

Description: The presenters will provide information related to creating an assessment and a rubric.

Topic: Office of Equity, Access, and Inclusion and the AAEC

Description: The presenters will discuss the role of the Office of Equity, Access, and Inclusion and the African American Employee Council. The presenters may also discuss the efforts being made to recruit and retain a diverse faculty/staff and discuss the importance of the AAEC.

Topic: Office of Research and Sponsored Programs

Description: The presenters will expand on the information provided in the first grants session.

Topic: Student population and inclusive teaching

Description: The presenters will discuss our student population and lead a discussion on inclusive classrooms and inclusive teaching.

Topic: Information about the different Centers on campus

Description: The Directors from the African American Cultural Center, Military Student Center, Hispanic Cultural Center, Adult, Non-Traditional and Transfer Student Center, and the Center for Service–Learning & Community Engagement will discuss the role that their Centers have on campus. 

Topic: Student and faculty mental health

Description: The presenter will discuss student and faculty mental health and provide information related to support services.

Topic: Looking ahead to year 2 as faculty

Description: The presenters will discuss the support for faculty in year 2 (and beyond) for teaching, research, and service.

Topic: Program assessment, program review, program and University accreditation

Description: The presenters will discuss program assessment, program reviews, program accreditation, and University accreditation.

Topic: Advising and the role of faculty

Description: The presenters will talk about the OneStop advising page, reviewing transcripts, Degree Works, and some common forms that are necessary for faculty to complete for advisees. 

Topic: Pedagogy workshop

Description: The presenter will provide information on teaching skills and techniques.

Topic: Faculty Senate and International Exchange/Study Abroad

Description: The presenters will discuss the role that Faculty Senate has on campus and discuss different grant opportunities offered by Faculty Senate. There will also be information related to international exchange and study abroad.
